Climate Influence Vs. Local Drivers in Surface Water-Groundwater Interactions in Eight Ponds of Doñana National Park (Southern Spain)

This paper aims to determine how both climate and local drivers, such as groundwater withdrawals influence surface water - interactions in Groundwater Dependent Ecosystems (GDEs). We studied the hydroperiod eight of most representative ponds Doñana National Park (southern Spain) during a 21-year period. analyzed average flooded phase each pond well depth piezometric level nearby piezometers. In addition, we used precipitation proxy inputs onto ponds. The was taken by previous analysis satellite images field measured at monthly time step. found out that slightly lower second decade (675 mm/y vs. 552 mm/y). Nonetheless, 5/8 showed much higher shrinking could not be explained only reduction events. Local drivers were decisive degradation 3/8 ponds: those closer pumping facility located altitude.
